Why Do I Want A Personal Trainer?
Think of joining a gym as being lost in an area of the world that you have never been to before. Wouldn't having map or a GPS device make it easier, faster, and safer to get to where you want to go? Of course it does. Think of a Personal Trainer as a Fitness "GPS" taking the safest, most direct, path to achieving your goals.
"I used to work out a lot, I think I know what to do...right?"
Unfortunately, many of the theories, training techniques, and general fitness mythology, that we all learned way back when, is just plain wrong. You need an instructor, so that you can take advantage of the latest, proven training techniques, and tools. The same training methods & techniques that enabled the best in the world to become, the best.
"I watch TV FItness shows, and those Celebrity Trainers appear to be fit from all the jumping around...shouldn't I just do that?"
In my programs, progress is gauged through the use of objective measures of fitness. For example: a power meter is used to monitor endurance fitness because power is an absolute measure of performance, whether it be absolute wattage, or Watts per Kilogram...plus the feedback is instantaeous in real time.
"Uhhh, I have never heard of that before, I am used to jumping around like a maniac....."
Let me illustrate: if you were placed blindfolded on a basketball court, could you make a basket? Would you even know if you had made a basket? When the blindfold is taken off, you know instantly if you made a basket, furthermore, you could make incremental improvements in your technique until you were successful in shooting a basket. That is what a power meter does. Enables you to see exactly which training zone you are training in to minimize time, and maximize the benefits.
